2012, Week Sixteen

Another week, more pictures. I’m still forgetful. I’m not beating myself up about it too hard. This was a full week of good things: time with a good friend, good meals, beers, books, and hiking.

And this carrot sandwich.

Untitled
Apr 15 – I like to call it a carrot tartine. So simple: Baguette, a smear of hummus, and some grated carrots that have been tossed with a bit of olive oil and some za’atar. Love.

Pseudo-cassoulet
Apr 16 – I made a pseudo-cassoulet this week, with beans and duck breast. It didn’t turn out exactly as I imagined, but that just means I have another excuse to try again. And buy more duck fat.

Snack time
Apr 17 – I decided to try to capture many details of a full day in photos last Tuesday. I got distracted halfway through the day and forgot. Because that’s what I do. But I did manage to get a few good photos, including this one of my afternoon snack: carrots, hummus, tangelo. Work. You can see the full set on Flickr.

I missed a few days in here. Oops.

Beisbol.
Apr 20 – We saw a ball game! Friday night at the Oakland Coliseum, watching the A’s play the Indians. I mostly watched the people around us. And ate nachos.

Nachos at the ballgame
Apr 20 – Nachos. Well, they were, anyway.

Lagoon
Apr 21 – We went hiking in Marin on Saturday. It was a beautiful day, and the view from the top of the hill was mindblowing. We started out here, at sea level.

Hill 88
Apr 21 – And we ended up here. Then we had to go back down. Hiking in California is pretty awesome.

I’m thinking it might be time to get a camera bag, so I can bring my real camera out into the world, and stop relying on my iPhone so much.

I’ve got another full week ahead, including a trip to the Internet Archive and a day in San Francisco, at the Digital Public Library of America West. (Oh yeah, in my other life I’m a librarian. I blog about it infrequently at lauraek.net, if you’re interested in that kind of thing.) But I have some good things to share this week, so come back for some French Onion Soup and a story about some ham.

  1. I went through a couple of camera bags and I find that I mostly use the neoprene sleeve thing I got, which enables me to toss the camera in whatever bag I happen to feel like carrying.
