This was a week of Oakland love, computer failure, and a few really good breakfasts.
August 5 – We went hiking in Redwoods Regional Park, and I broke in my new hiking boots. It was a beautiful day.
August 6 – I stopped at a new coffee shop after dropping my laptop off with the IT folks. I loved this star on the wall of the shop. It was a dang good cappuccino, too.
August 7 – I’ve been feeling a little uninspired by all the squash we’ve been getting, but this simple saute turned out pretty darn good.
August 8 – We’re still getting pretty good strawberries at the market. They make a lovely breakfast.
August 9 – But this is the true breakfast of champions. Avocados are the best. I’m loving this bread from Vital Vittles, here in Oakland.
August 10 – I made lamb burgers for dinner on Friday. They were phenomenal. I used a recipe from Aida Mollenkamp, and now I can’t wait to explore the rest of her site.
August 11 – A few months ago my beautiful niece came to visit, and apparently, she stashed some of her small toys in various places in our apartment. We’ve been finding them here and there ever since. Aurora was discovered Saturday on a book shelf in our spare room.
