This was my first full week back at work in a little while. It felt so long! I don’t think my mere two days of weekend were enough to feel rejuvenating and ready to start all over again. But I’m here at my desk, anyway. It’s going to be another busy week.
It’s hard to believe that it was only last Sunday that we were saying goodbye to our beautiful beach campsite and driving back down to Oakland.
June 3 – The beach at MacKerricher State Park in Mendocino.
June 4 – I was really feeling the need for comfort food this week, so on Monday, I made crispy chicken fingers and smashed potatoes. The potatoes didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted, but the chicken fingers were awesome! I’m sure I’ll make these again. Even though the plate was super bland looking.
June 5 – I got new shoes! I’ve been coveting these shoes for awhile, so I’m glad I finally broke down and got them.
June 6 – I am in love with our CSA subscription, and the big box of produce we get to pick up every week. This week: lettuce, cabbage, basil, broccoli, onions, potatoes, beets, carrots, and four glorious juicy peaches.
June 7 – This is my current favorite breakfast. I haven’t made my own bread in a long time, so I’ve been buying a sprouted whole grain loaf from Alvarado Street Bakery. I’m experimenting with almond butter instead of my usual peanut butter, and the bananas on top are a total sweet treat.
June 8 – I am so excited that it’s cherry season again. I love cherries!
June 9 – On Saturday afternoon, I took a wrong turn in our neighborhood and we discovered a pop-up beer garden. We stopped and had a beer and a sausage, and enjoyed the sunshine and the great music and the overall awesomeness of a pop-up beer garden. They’ll be setting up every Saturday all summer, and I know we’ll go back.
A beer garden Saturday was a pretty relaxing way to wind down after a full week. We had beautiful weather, and a weekend that reminded us how much we love living in California.
