2012, Week Twenty-Six

Wowza. I’m a little late on this one. Also, I took almost no pictures last week. Whoops. I was in Anaheim at the American Library Association conference, and even though I swore to myself I would take it easy this time around, and not exhaust myself trying to attend all the events, I was still busy, and at the end of it all, pretty tired.

And now I’m in San Diego with the family, taking care of my way-too-cute niece during the day and relaxing with the family at night. These things all conspire to keep me away from my computer.

Here is a tiny glimpse at last week, in photos:

Steak from Olivier
June 17 – We picked up a big bag of meat, and we grilled steaks. This rib-eye is from Olivier’s Butchery in San Francisco.

A glimpse of my life in books
June 19 – A glimpse of my life through the books on our end table: trying to learn about graphic design and photography, dreaming of new lenses and gear, drooling over a beautiful cookbook…and serials librarianship. Huh.

Summer pasta
June 19 – It’s time for summer pasta! Yes. I love to saute summery vegetable and toss them with pasta, it’s the easiest, freshest tasting summer dinner. This bad boy had some chard, summer squash, sun-dried tomatoes, burrata cheese, and fresh breadcrumbs.

Put an owl on it
June 21 – On Thursday I drove down to Los Angeles to visit some friends before heading to Anaheim for the conference. I got to LA way earlier than I thought I would and ended up wandering around a small, weird mall for awhile. This owl was in a Z Gallerie. I couldn’t decide whether I loved it or was creeped out by it. Either way, it wouldn’t really work in our apartment. It’s pretty much the size of a real owl.

View from my hotel room
June 22 – I checked into my hotel (the Hyatt Regency Orange County) and when I went to check out the view I was surprised to discover that it was the lobby. Kinda weird. But this hotel was lovely.

Poolside, the best place to be
June 22 – The best part? The pool. I loved being able to relax by the pool after a long day of conferencing. I want a pool so bad.

Haunted Mansion graveyard
June 23 – One benefit of having ALA in Anaheim is Disneyland! I went on Saturday night with my friend and her sister. I love the Haunted Mansion, and this picture from the graveyard outside is one of my favorites.

So, an abbreviated glimpse of a very busy week. ALA was, as always, refreshing and fun, but super tiring. I’m looking forward to heading back home on Saturday and getting back to my usual routine, including cooking some new recipes and taking more pictures.
