I had hoped to share a recipe or two before posting another set of pictures from my Photo a Day project, but this week really got away from me. I haven’t been cooking a lot since I got back from Dallas, and unfortunately, when I did cook it didn’t turn out to be anything worth sharing (I have a lot to learn about sardines).
This week, I missed a day in my photo project. I’m sure it won’t be the last time, but it’s unfortunate, because I had a really spectacular (and spectacular looking) meal that day at Chop Bar. It’s restaurant week here in Oakland (actually, I think today is the last day) and I’m glad I got out and tried a new place. But I forgot to take a picture. I got some other fun pictures, though, and I already love having this daily record of 2012. I hope you’re enjoying them, too.

I’m a bit late in sharing these pictures; I was in Dallas for a conference last weekend and just got home late Tuesday night. And this first picture, well, it’s not my best, but I was trying to be surreptitious.

The first week of 2012
I don’t really set New Year’s Resolutions, per se, but I do like to give myself goals and challenges. This year, I decided that I want to learn more about photography, and start to develop some new skills. I decided, as part of this challenge, to share a photo a day. I was inspired by Tracy at Shutterbean, whose 365 photo project last year was so fun and inspiring. I set up a Flickr set to collect my pictures, and I’ll share them here with you every week, too, as long as I manage to continue doing it. I’m really looking forward to looking back at the end of 2012, and having a record of at least one small moment of every day.
Here is 2012 so far.
